DSP or FPGA

#1 Post by jbn » Fri Jan 12, 2007 12:36 am

Hi,

I'm new here so please forgive me if this has been hashed out before.

What is the current state of using DSP or FPGA boards to accelerate VASP calcs (or PW DFT in general)?

Thanks,

John

DSP or FPGA

Not exactly DSP/FPGA, but AFAIK some of these new accelerator boards (e.g. Clearspeed) come equipped with BLAS and FFT libraries that utilize the hardware. Switching BLAS libraries is obviously pretty trivial, though the FFT library probably has yet another API.

Anyway, less work than rewriting vasp in verilog, or whatever synthesis language is used for FPGA stuff. :)
